I'm a genius

We've been having problems with Shaylie sleeping in her crib for the last couple of months (at least it seems that long). She absolutely refused to fall asleep in her crib. Every night she would lay on the bed with me, fall asleep and then when Trent came in to go to sleep he would pick her up and transfer her to her crib. Sometimes she would wake up in the night and realize she was in her crib and start screaming. Finally tiring of this nightly ritual we decided something had to be done ("crying it out" was not an option in my opinion -- not when she sleeps in our room. If we could shut the door on it that would be different). I thought she might do better if we turned her crib into a toddler bed. Well, sure enough, we transformed the crib into a bed, made it up like a big girl bed and made a big fuss over it and she quickly took to her "new" bed. She loves being able to get in and out of it herself, and have her covers and pillow, just like the big people. It also helps that we turned her bed so she could see us -- no more freaking out because she can always see we're right there. It's been wonderful to be able to easily put her in her own bed (finally!).
